The basic premise of the game is to be handed cards totaling up to 21. Every gambler is assigned 2 cards. When a black jack player is given a nine or less and an Ace they have been dealt a soft hand. When the blackjack player receives no Ace it is referred to as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been dealt all players at the blackjack table, which includes the dealer, every player is provided the chance to make one of 6 actions:
Taking another card (Hit): When a gambler says hit me the dealer will deal them another card, if the adding of that card causes the total greater than 21 the black jack player will have lost and that’s the end of the game, if the card pushes the total to twenty one the player is the winner and if the total hasn’t yet reached twenty one they are still in the game.
Keeping the hand you’ve been given: If a blackjack player is happy with the cards they’ll stand. As soon as this has happened the croupier will disclose his/her cards and the black jack player who has gotten twenty-one or the closet to twenty-one will win.
Doubling Down: A gambler might request to double down which doubles the wager they have placed. Once you have taken this action you can only receive 1 more card. The details of doubling down are often specified by the blackjack table or casino rules so before betting make sure you’re comfortable with the house game rules. If you’re wagering at an on-line casino this is normally quite simple.
Stay tuned for part two.
